Project 1: My community My Commitment
Introduction:
In this only project, we are in group of 10 to identify an
environmental-community related issue in your local community.
The issues have to be genuine and any solution had to be provided
by my team must have an impact to the environment and community. We were
required to visit my project site to collect more information for further step
in our project. The site we chose was an orphanage, name Rumah Charis.
Collaborating with the Food Aid
Foundation, an organisation that is a non-profit that operate as a food bank
with primary objective of providing basic food to charitable homes,
rehabilitation centres, feeding centres, poor families and destitute, our
design is based mainly on how to provide food stall for them so it is easier to
distribute the food during charity event. Food Aid Foundation was managed by
professionals with experience in the food services industry and supported by a
team of staff comprising of employees and volunteers, with a pool of cooks and
drivers, that are ready to serve those in need.
The material that our group
proposed is highly recyclable and most of it can be reuse so we can save more
on the environment. Our material consist of reuse wood and plywood, reuse pvc
pipes and fitting, nails, sand paper, shellac, screws and metal hinges. The pvc
pipes are used as table stand legs. It’s easy to assemble, light, and has a
strong tensile strength which is one of the strongest when compared to any
plastic. Wood is used as a base to keep the food on it as wood produce such
strength for compression of the weight. Wood is also chosen because its easy to
recycle it back or reused it for other purpose.
Here is some photos which show the progress of us making the “food stall” and the moment we having
fun with the orphans:

Reflection:
Through this project I realized and recognized the role and
responsibility of an architect towards environment and society. This project
gave me a chance to involve creativity in attempting to explore the current
environmental circumstances.
Project 1 :Experiencing Construction: Experiencing,
documentation and analysing CONSTRUCTION
PROCESS (Group Work)
Introduction:
This project required us, group of 8, to visit an ongoing
construction site to identify different types of building elements and its
construction process, details and materials. We are also required to study and
record construction of different building elements that we have learnt in this module.
We went to 3 different construction sites to carry out our
studies. 3 of the sites are in different state of construction, which are the
initial state, middle state and almost the final state. We are so lucky that
the project managers kindly gave us much basic and useful information of
construction and some experiences are shared as well. I was assigned to do
superstructure---columns and beams part.
Here are some photo on site:

Part 2: http://issuu.com/laimun/docs/2nd_part.pptx
Reflection:
Throughout this project, I learned how to produce a complete documentation in the form of sketches, picture, drawings and analysis of construction elements.I understood and learned some basic construction elements and its components as well. Finally, I had learned the current construction technology on local construction sites.
Project 2: Integrated Construction Detailing/ Drawings (Individual)
Introduction:
This project is integrated with
Architecture Design Studio 2. We are required to identify and propose 3
architectural detailing of the building we designed and hand drawn it on one
piece of A2 size paper.
I chose the installation of rotating
walls, the pitched roof with drainage system and also the steel frame with
different pattern to propose my idea.
Here is my board:
Reflection:
After this project, I
learned how to select suitable structural elements for my design project and I
also learned how to design and apply proper structural element for my design.
Project 1: Architecture Heritage Building Analysis (
Group & Individual )
Introduction:
In a group of 5, we are required to
select a modern architect for us to study. The evolution of Architecture was very rapid and revolutionary
during the Modern Masters period as compared to other periods. We atre in a
group of peers to investigate the Architecture of Modern Masters. We have to
analysis the visual evidence with specific reference to Modern Masters as
precedent studies.
For the group project, we are
required to create a report A2 size presentation board about the principle,
ideas and contributing factors of the architecture of modern master. For sure,
drawings are also included.
Here is the group presentation board:
Here is my work:
Reflection:
I have learned how
to create understanding visually by composing factual information and
descriptive sketches on a presentation board.
Project 2: Web Book ( Group & Individual )
In a group of 5 (same members as
last project), we choose DTC, Dewan Tunku Canselor to carry out our architecture heritage building analysis. We
went there a few times to visit the gallery and also interviewed the residents
staying around there to get more information about this hall which is inside
UM, University Malaya.
Some photos of DTC:
Here is the link of our web book:
I am able to analysis and specify
architectural features of a building and it was a nice try to document
architectural heritage in the form of writings, descriptive diagrams and
photography
